The beautiful crescent shaped, sandy beach is rapidly becoming a popular Surfer hangout during the months of November to March when it’s the rainy season on the East coast.
This surfing hotspot offers intermediated level waves for nice turns. Best waves can be experienced early morning and late afternoon. You can surf a low power right-hander over reef break near the rocks and a left-hander near the Mirissa harbor. Works really well with a good swell up to 6ft, however check the local tides as the reef can become shallow when the tide is out.
The blue waters offer a good ride for beginners and experienced surfers equally. The spot is good for beginner and intermediate surfers to build confidence on a reef. The location of the point between rocks and a hill means its waves are hardly affected by onshore wind. Mirissa also has a beach break ideal for beginners and boogie boarders.
Surfing is available directly in front of hotel. We can arrange surfboard hire, lessons with great instructors and whole surfing tours.
